KING EDWARD ARTS HUB AND INCUBATOR BREAKS GROUND

We are very pleased to announce that our King Edward Arts Hub and Incubator project broke ground today. We look forward the transformation of this 1912 heritage school building into a sustainable and thriving arts hub and incubator. The hard hats were presented to us by cSpace during the event. The Nest Egg hard hat was created by Artist Katie Green. The Geometric hard hat was created by Morgan Free. We were honored to receive them.

King Edward Breaks Ground

ST. LOUIS HOTEL

Nyhoff Architecture has been awarded the conservation and adaptive re-use of the historic St. Louis Hotel in downtown Calgary. Working with CMLC, we will be transforming one of the city’s oldest hotels into a key component of the 8th Avenue gateway connecting the East Village to the New Central Library and downtown beyond.

CALGARY HERITAGE AUTHORITY LION AWARDS

Nyhoff Architecture is pleased to announce that two of our projects have been awarded Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards;

cSpace Projects King Edward was presented with a Lion Award for Community Vitalization.

dTalks – Building Iconomy was presented with a Lion Award for Advocacy and Awareness.

RECREATION INDUSTRY AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

Nyhoff Architecture was pleased to receive an Honourable Mention for the Stephen Barr Award of Excellence for Recreation Facility Design for our work on the design of CASA – the Lethbridge Community Arts Centre. This project was completed in association with Ferrari Westwood Babits Architects of Lethbridge.

 

“BUILDING CURIOSITY” EXHIBITION

Nyhoff Architecture’s work for d.Talks “Building Iconomy: Possibilities for a Brutalist Building”  will be included in photographer James McMenamin’s “Building Curiosity” Exhibition running Tuesday, November 12th through 28th at the Kasian Gallery – Faculty of Environmental Design (EVDS) at the University of Calgary.  A public reception will be held on Friday, November 22nd 6:00 – 7:30 pm.

Nyhoff Architecture wins two 2013 Calgary Mayor’s Urban Design Awards

The Mayor’s Urban Design Awards (MUDA) are biennial awards that acknowledge the important contribution that designers, architects and artists make in improving the quality of life in our city by producing high quality buildings and public spaces.

We are very pleased to announce that Nyhoff Architecture was the winner of a 2013 Mayor’s Urban Design Award in two categories :

Winner of the Conceptual/Theoretical Urban Design Projects​ for our d.Talks Building Iconomy study. 

Winner of the Approved or Adopted Urban Design Plan for the design of the King Edward Arts Hub and Incubator project in association with Ferrari Westwood Babits Architects.
